It's been almost a year since I started blogging on JU. I love the points system and the recent articles and recent forum posts sections. They make it a lot easier to find good bloggers to read. Lately, even though our view points differ dramatically, I've been reading Myrrander's work, simply because he writes well, and brings up the other side that I sometimes may not want to hear, but need to hear.
I think my worst problem with the blogging system presented by these two utilities is the *Buzzword* virus. It maliciously attacks at the Recent Forum Posts boards. In fact, it's almost uncontrollable, and at the mention of things like "fetus, politics, Republican, Democrat, liberal, conservative, Micheal Jackson, Martha Stewart, Weezer's insane lead singer (Ok, maybe not him), or abortion" you have tons of repliers and readers... and, well, points.
There are plenty of good articles that the *Buzzword* Virus does not affect. In fact, it passes by them, and uses it's foul means to make sure they leave the Recent JoeUser Articles board and the Recent Forum Posts board with haste. I know that I'm not proactive to search out new blogs and see if they write quality articles, but I do check the Recent JoeUser Articles board, and while the writing may be good, at least a few of the articles are infected with the *Buzzword* virus.
And no, Martha, It's not a good thing.
