I'm a real big fan of movies that move you to be a better person, to make you think.

Movies like Finding Forester, Patch Adams, etc. fall into that catagory.

So, what I'm asking from you is a line from a movie that made your spin tingle, made you want to watch the movie again. In short, a line from a movie that moved you.

Mine is a simple line, but the significance of the line is so deep that it's mind shatttering.

The line is spoken in the movie "The End of Evangelion" and is said by Shinji Ikari.

"I'm so fucked up."

Not what you were expecting, but if anyone has ever seen Evangelion, they'de understand, at least partially.

So, what is your movie line?

Peace,

Beebes

I wish I could think of one right now. I'm sure there have been plenty of scary movie lines that just jolted me or hit me really hard, and I can't think of any of them.

I like "Free your mind" from the Matrix, but it didn't really knock me over. I just like imagining how much freedom and escape you would have to achieve to jump from building to building.

I gave her my heart and she gave me .... a pen.

also, trite, but I love it,

Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

The second is from Princess Bride and while it is most definitely my favouritest movie ever!!!! - I can't say it's the movie that moved me the most.

I cry in most movies - but I don't think I've ever cried as much as I did in the last scene of Raising Helen

Helen Starts to Read Jenny's Letter from Lindsay]
Helen Harris : Dear Jenny, If you're reading this, you know that I'm gone. And I asked Helen to be the guardian for the kids.
Lindsay Davis : [voiceover] And you're probably freaked about it. Yes, it's a surprising choice, considering that you are the most incredible mother I've ever known. If you find this letter odd, understand that my "always be prepared" Paul convinced me to write it now while our children are young. You must know from experience that when it comes to picking somebody else to raise your kids, no on seems right. No one is you. And so you choose someone who is most like you. Someone that will give the kids a taste of their real mom, the mom they lost and never really got to know. In so many ways, we are so much alike, that's why I chose Helen. Of course, she'll have lots of fights with the kids, yet she'll find a way to make up. I know sometimes she messes things up and makes big mistakes. On the other hand, she also makes big comebacks. Respect her Jenny. Give her a shot. We're family and I'm counting on you to keep everyone together. I know, Helen will certainly need some help learning how to be a mother to my kids, but I've got you for that. And who could be better? After all, you raised Helen, you'll teach her how to be a mom. Just like you taught her how to tie her shoes. I can still hear you telling her, "The bunny goes around the tree, and into the burrow...
Helen Harris : [watches Sarah tie her shoe] Pull tight.

I completely Lost it in the bold section - But that's not just one line.
I cried when Harry told AJ that his job was to "take care of my little girl and make sure Truman gets that" in Armageddon. I cry everytime I watch Terms of Endearment and Steel Magnolias and Fried Green Tomatoes - even though I KNOW she's going to die because I've seen it 50times and I fast forward the stampeed in the Lion King because I don't want Mufasa to die.
I'm going to see The Notebook at some point (when I find a spare weekend and a free sitter - free as in available) and I know that I'm going to need more then a box of tissues because I cried alot when I read the book.

Fine - I can't figure it out THIS is the bold section grrr

"You must know from experience that when it comes to picking somebody else to raise your kids, no on seems right. No one is you. And so you choose someone who is most like you. Someone that will give the kids a taste of their real mom, the mom they lost and never really got to know."

As a brand new mother I completely lost it at this point and didn't recover until well after the credits started rolling. Elana was about 6 months old when I saw this with my friend who has a 2 year old a baby 6weeks younger then mine. We went with a childless friend and she just didn't understand why we were crying.

SPC's first line is from To have and to have Not - Bogie & Bacall (1944) and it's taken me months to work that out - since the first time he mentioned that as one of his favourite lines in his own blog and mistakenly thought it was Jessica Rabbit - I don't know why.

Thanks trina!

I don't think I've seen Raising Helen. I don't watch a lot of movies or TV, so that's probably part of it.

You are not your job, you're not how much money you have in the bank, you're not the car you drive, you're not the contents of your wallet, you're not your fucking khakis. You are the all singing, all dancing, crap of the world.

no no, I knew exactly where it came from, somebody else thought it was Jessica Rabbit. Jessica's famous femme fatale line (done fabulously by Kathleen Turner), is "I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way."
on Oct 28, 2004
yes it was me - there's a typo it's meant to say "...I mistakenly..." meaning me - because it was - and at the time you weren't sure who said it you wanted to say it was Kathleen Turner - I checked this morning - see your favourite movie line blog

sugar high elf - I love that line - I never would have remembered it but I loved it. I love how he chose Judy over Ann Sheridan too

"Do... or do not. There is no try." Yoda, Jedi Master and wise puppet

That changed my life forever. (you think I'm joking...)

A few years later, Yodas wisdom entered my life again when I met my wife...
"Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not!" (this one really is a joke...)
