The Powers of an Unknown Band

Hey Y’all! I’m listening to my trusty music player on my computer, and I’m listening to some pretty rockin music. The band I’m listening to right now is one of my favorite bands. The problem is, they aren’t on any national label. In all reality, they are an unknown band.

As far as I know, these talented musicians are doing small gigs in the California, and coast areas. The band’s name is The Mercy Kiss, and you can visit their website here. Link

My friend is a cousin of their drummer, and that’s how I learned about them. They’ve got some good lyrics, and I love the style of rock that they bring to the table. It’s a breath of fresh air, to be honest. I love it.

Sometimes, when bands go big time, I think they lose sight of how they got into the industry in the first place, and loose some of the ability to make interesting, good music. When a band is a small town gig, they have to rely on the quality of their work, reason being is that if they don’t sell tickets, CDs, and T-Shirts, they don’t make money to fund studio time. That’s why I think some small town, no name bands, are better than their big money counter-parts.

On their website, you can get free copies of some of the songs that The Mercy Kiss has recorded, so if you’re one of those free music junkies looking for something new, this might be a good place to check out. If you just want to hear something besides J-Lo, Hoobastank, and Usher that they play on the radio, check this out too. In fact, everyone should check them out! It’s a great band!
