I’ve seen some fictional blogs on here before. I think we all have. It’s interesting that the one that seemed to have created the most drama has not posted anything lately, at least, as far as I know. What I want to know is this; Do you believe fictional blogging is good or bad?

In my opinion, if a fictional blog is done right, you can end up with a insightful, interesting, thought provoking read. If you do it wrong, you generally have a lot of... well badness. Some of the people on here post about their real lives. To this I can contest. Others, well not mentioning any names, seem kind of dubious.

In reality, you can’t truly post a non-fiction “This is my life Period” blog story even if you wanted to. Emotions creep in there, and most people can’t just look at their lives through a microscope to eliminate emotion, opposition, prejudice, and etc. And to be totally honest, if such a blog could be produced, I don’t think it would be a very good read.

So... Fictional Blogging... Good, Bad, or Indifferent?

Ok, ok, just before all of you start putting on all of those wonderful replies, I have another question for you. Just as a blogger, do you think you would be interested in reading a story, chapter by chapter, on a blog? For example, If I wrote a story and posted chapters of it on JU, do you think people would read it? Would you read it, or would you be uninterested?

Ok, this is the end. Really.

Peace,

Well I guess it could be good and bad. It all depends on how you go by writing it and what all you say in it. I mean someone cold write a fictional blog, just to make a humorus article for everyone to read. Like I said, it all depends on what you say in it.

As for the story, well you know I would come and read it. And I'm sure other people would too! You've become quite a good blogger on here Alex. So keep up the good work, and I expect the chapters of the story asap!!!! lol.

Thanks for the input carebear! I'll be getting those chapters up, just as soon as I write em!

PS: Maybe I should start a different blog for a story? Comments on that would be apriciated as well.

Yeah, that would be the best idea.

As far as fictional blogs, well, I think there could certainly be fun and interesting ones. Unfortunately I haven't seen any of those here. One we have seen was an incredibly manipulative and truly hurtful. That one gets a big bad. The other well known one was somewhat inventive and humorous at first, but since has become an amoral, generally spite filled, and very poorly written collection of rubbish. That one gets another bad.

But in the hands of a talented writer with a healthy perspective on life and some good imagination I think a fictional blog could be brilliant. Just haven't seen it yet (and I certainly wouldn't feign the writing skills necessary to pull if off).

Now, the story idea, well all I can say is I tried it. I put up a story I wrote here (called Supernova) in installments. And I don't think anyone read it. But perhaps it was my writing style. Not sure, but I can only share my own sad experience (yes, I am being a bit melodramatic there).

To the first part of your blog. A fictional blog designed to deliberately mislead people ISN'T cool. If it's just a fictional persona, and people aren't being manipulated through consistent lies, I don't see the harm in it.

You need to realize, however...the reputation that you, carebear, capt, apdelong, zoologist, blondelife and anyone else I might have missed have worked so hard to build on JU (and was honestly earned) was questioned because of the common thread of your association with the blogger who did the misleading. Because she had created fictional characters' blogs, the question arose as to HOW MANY she created. So it's a question you might well want to ask yourselves.

As to the second part of your blog, post away! You're a talented writer and I'd love to see what you put together.

Cool, and thank you, Gideon!

I understand what you're saying. All of the fictional blogs around here seem to be... degenerating, and I don't even know if that's the right word to use. Anyway, Thanks for the comments!

Well fictional blogs are cool as long as you've told people that its fictional beforehand....and if you want to post up some story chapters, go right ahead...I've read the one thing you sent me...and it was pretty damn good....you're a good writer, so post'em up here....
