The truth about most of JU’s teen bloggers
Published on August 2, 2004 By Death_By_Beebles In Current Events
So... I’ve heard a few things. About JU’s teen bloggers. Quite honestly, I’m hurt and upset by the fact that some of the most talented, intelligent people on JU would lump us all together and call us “not true”, as if we are the most horrible people in the world who lie about everything just to get a kick out of it. If you think about it, I don’t see why you would do this to us! We aren’t all bad!

I myself am “true” in the sense that I actually am who I say I am. I don’t create senseless drama. I don’t hurt other people’s feelings intentionally. I am who I say I am. I haven’t changed anything to not offend someone, I haven’t changed who I am for anyone on JU. I AM REAL!

Wonderful bloggers like carebear07, Capt. Cornbread, and Zoologist03 all get shunted by these broad terms and slander. These individuals constantly put out informative, humorous, insightful, and just generally good articles for a JU audience that seems to be less accepting because of a few bad eggs.

Prejudice? Why?

Misguiding? I think not!!! Keep it real, and think about the individual, not the group.

Peace,

Beebes

There are many ways to judge people. One common way is by the company they keep and the friends they have.

Hanging out with and supporting someone who creates fictional dramas will tend to get you tarred with the same brush used for them. At the least, many people will read your stuff with a more skeptical eye because you were "involved" somehow, even if only peripherally and by association, with that other person's activities.
I don't claim that this is fair or right, only that it is common and should be expected.

As the saying goes, once bitten, twice shy.

Beebles,

Unfortunately, you were hurt by the fact that one among you has been pretty much established as being consistently deceitful. To add insult to injury, that person created two fictional characters, and this is what has caused people to question whether more were created. I, for one, am sorry your names were bandied about; you're right, you have written many wonderful blogs (sadly, so has the individual in question), and the only reason your names came into it is because of the close association that several in your group have with the individual in question.

There's a saying you've probably heard about 'birds of a feather' flocking together?  Unfortunately you've been somewhat judged by the company you've kept in the past.  Not nice, I know, but as citahellion says, common and expected.

I have to agree with what has been said already. Though your article is open and honest, and the message is noted. I will make a special effort to read the blogs of those mentioned above, including yourself.

Uh, oh.....looks like I missed something big here.....could someone give me a clue here?.....am I considered to be fictional or something?...or is Capt. Cornbread having an identity crisis?.....What the heck is going on?

Pretty confused,

Ok, I think I've figured this out you guys. Brandon told me somone on here posted something about us teens not being truthful. Well just to let you know I know that I myself has been truthful about myself from day one on joeuser. I also know as well, that Capt. Cornbread and Zoologist03 have also been truthful. I know this because i actually do know them. So whoever says we're a bunch of bullcrap liers needs to shut their mouth before I have to come and do it for them. Trust me, it won't be pretty.

Now carebear, don't get too excited!

We are who we are. That's all that needs to be said. Judging us because of one person is not a good way to go about things.

If no one believes any of us, it's ok, because in reality, if that person can't take what I, you, Zoo, or Capt. says at face value, then that's something they have to work with and deal with.

Turn the other cheek guys.

Peace,

Ditto on what everyone else said...and also,

So whoever says we're a bunch of bullcrap liers needs to shut their mouth before I have to come and do it for them. Trust me, it won't be pretty.

More than anyone else, you (should) understand that one of your "friends" hurt a lot of people around here with her "baby dying" story. She had Trina writting heartfelt prayer, Janders offering to send cards, Dharma knitting, everyone was concerned and literally loosing sleep over it. But the baby wasn't real. And yet, you continue to have innane conversations with her on your/her blog as if nothing has happened. No offense, but what about that is confusing? Why wouldn't you think that people would lump you into the same category as her? Might not seem fair to you, but life rarely is!

Emotion is not something to be ashamed of. Carebear has every right to feel the way she does. Being accused of something you didn't do incites rage, horror, sorrow, pain, and many more emotions. I felt most of them myself. I really didn't trust myself to write them in the emotional form that carebear did.

More than anyone else, you (should) understand that one of your "friends" hurt a lot of people around here with her "baby dying" story. She had Trina writting heartfelt prayer, Janders offering to send cards, Dharma knitting, everyone was concerned and literally loosing sleep over it.

This is the problem. People were hurt by someone who is the same age as us. I too fell for the little ruse, and wrote what I thought at the time was a nice, heartfelt prayer for the little child. I also prayed that the girl would not die. And in my heart, I knew that maybe if this child wasn't real, that some other child would feel God's peace and my hope that they would live. That they wouldn't have to cross the streets of heaven without crossing the streets of life first.

I can apologize for my fellow teens. I can turn the other cheek. Please don't assault carebear for her emotion. Her heart is in the right place, even if her words weren't.

To all hurt, to all angered, to all crying, to all happy, to all joyful, remember.
This too shall pass.

Peace,

It's one of carebears. Something about you don't come and visit me anymore. That's where I first experienced the bash.

I said this on carebear's "You want the Truth" article but I'll say it again here:

Actually I'm afraid I started this all with my response to your "you people don't come to see me anymore!" plea where I suggested it might be because of what I had read about some people saying maybe all the teens on JU were fictional.

I was just repeating what I'd heard because I thought it might explain it, but it appears I dropped a gossip bomb. If my comment inspired the rash of hurt reactions amongst our teen contingent I appologize.

uh, do you by any chance remember what article we were bashed in???

. . .

It's one of carebears. ... That's where I first experienced the bash.

That might be where you first saw it, but it is not where it started! To repeat, I wasn't bashing you, I was just repeating "the bash" that I had heard because I thought it was a possible explanation for what carebear was questioning. If you want to know the original "bash-point," where I first heard it, someone probably said it over on Dharma's Ryder expose. Check there.

Okay, I looked, this is what I found there:

Interesting to note, too...carebear and captcornbread ceased blogging within hours of ashlee's mysterious disappearance as well. Sad to say, I think the web is wider than we realized.

If it is all true (and even just what we know is true), I will say this: "Ashlee" is a talented writer. It's just a shame she couldn't use her writing skills to a CONSTRUCTIVE end.

But I've seen the sentiment written on other threads coming from other people. (I just can't recall exactly where.) You have a temporary guilt by association thing going (which is what I was telling carebear). For most people it will blow over in time.

Just don't make any sudden, startling moves. Everyone's a bit jumpy.
on Aug 04, 2004
By the way, chasing it around, trying to find out who said what and who said it originally is probably counter productive. (Even though I just did it.) Ultimately it started with Ashlee. I'm surprised you all didn't know what was going on and hadn't heard these sentiments being voiced before. And I again appologize that I was the conduit through who you found out.

It may be for the best that it is all out in the air, though. You probably needed to know some people were thinking these things and that your friend Ashlee had started a wave of suspicion and mistrust. Hopefully this can help us all come together and heal.

Hopefully?
