What a bunch of crap. It just goes to show you how the world is going these days. Oprah, getting snubbed at a Hermes store in Paris issued a complaint to the U.S. President of said company. The company actually issued an apology! The store had been closed fore 15 minutes!

"I'm sorry ma'am. You're a person. Yes that's right, a person. Not a celebrity. No ma'am, we aren't letting people in after closing."

Poor Oprah. She got treated like the rest of us, and she's crying bloody murder. Boo, fricken, hoo.

Well, at least she's turning it to her advantage. Now they're making a show about it.

The worst part about it is, most of the articles I've read support Oprah! Poor girl. Poor poor Oprah, not getting that watch for Tina. Such a shame.

My favorite would have to be this one.

Especially the first part, but the last part of the article brings up some great points as well.

Sad day indeed.

I've read about this in various magazines. I think the reason Oprah took issue was because there were customers shopping in the store (it was about 5 minutes after the posted closing time) when she was refused entry.

I'm not sure how this would be a racism issue, unless something transpired that no one else has been privy to. I've read that people agree that it was racism because "Oprah doesn't often play the race card, so if she says it's racism, then it must be true." I don't buy that.

To me, it seems more like, Oprah was upset because she couldn't make the purchases she'd planned on and she thought that if other customers were finishing up their shopping the store ought to let her go in and do hers as well, being the wealthy celebrity that she is, and so now she wants to do everything in her power to hurt the company's business, even if it means alleging racism.

And if that's the case, it's pretty disgusting because it's an insult to people who have truly experienced racism.

Yes indeed. Apparently now she's calling it her "Crash" moment, which is totally absurd, and demeaning to those who have experienced true racism and sexual molestation.

This again shows you how victimized in thinking minorities have become, any chance they get, they scream RACIST! not the store was closed, it just had to be because she is black. I am so tired of this crap.

To make it worse, this victimization is now espoused by the most powerful female celebrity in our known world. It is a bunch of crap.

It's amazing Oprah's effect on her drones. Saturday Night Live makes light of it, but there probably are women that would carry her around on their shoulders like some Cleopatra. And why, because she has marketed herself well? What's that got to do with the intimate details of your life she constantly gives advice on?

She's a businessperson, and successful. So is Donald Trump, but you don't see housewives flocking to his call. She simply takes on the guise of someone like them, while at the same time demeaning them with her luxury so they will want to emulate her.

I remember when she was talking to transvestites and "kissing cousins" along with Donahue and the rest. She "reinvented" herself well, but a solid gold toilet is still a toilet.

A good way to put it.

Oprah is the example of the spoiled celebrity who believes they are entitled to everything because of their status. She is so out of touch of reality now.

The sales associates at Hermes were doing their jobs. They want to go home, too after working hard all day. Unlike Oprah, they don' t have a rapt audience of housewives who will blindly believe everything they say.

The fact that she's making it a show of hers in September turns it into nothing but damage control. It will turn into a self-righteous and self-pitying show which she interrupts all her guests anyway to talk more about her. Then, she will tell her audience to boycott Hermes, despite the fact none of them could afford to go there.

I'm curious to see how she spins it. It's just obvious this a tantrum on a national level. Oprah has defined the term Ugly American.

I believe Hermes is a French company, is it not? 'Splains the apology.

Whatever good Oprah may have done over the years, she's revealed that she's become, or has always been, a spoiled brat. What respect I had for her will be truly gone if she goes Cochran on us & plays the race card.

Cheers,
Daiwa

I was wondering about this. I didn't hear the whole story. All I heard was that she wasn't let in. I did not know that the store was closed for the evening.

I guess when you spend over 10,000 for a bag, you would think you could ome in and get your item. LOL
I guess that is not true in this case.

I really hope she is not mad because she wasn't allowed in after the store was closed and that is why she is upset. their will always be shoppers still in a store when it is time to close. Some stores rush them out, others wait them out. Either way, they usually don't let in more people. TRUST ME! You let in one, and everybody wants in. LITERALLY.

Lets hope there is more to this story than just not being let in after closing.

As far as I know, that's all it was. Now, to be sure, if it were something more, you'd think that she'd come out with it right now. But, she's waiting for the premier of the show in fall to talk about it, which only makes her accusations that much more cheap.

Oprah used to have credibility with the common person in her early years. She came from poverty and abuse that gave her that connection with many people. She has now spent a couple of decades or so in a world that is all about Oprah. Oprah has everything she can dream up, hangs with whomever she wants and this has caused her to totally lose touch with the real world.

She doesn't even speak to "regular" people in the same way as her celebrity friends on her show. You can see the progression of this if you ever watch clips from her older shows. Oh, and her not being fat anymore put her even higher on her pedestal. Now she tells regular people how they can lose the weight too except for the fact that regular people won't have her trainer, nutritionist, chef, etc.

I miss the old Oprah but she jumped the shark long ago as far as I am concerned and there is no going home.
