If I were to say something really catchy in the line up above me here, I could really get a bunch of replies.

Of course if I wrote in all capitals GOD SHALL SMITE YOU IF YOU DON'T TURN CHRISTIAN!!!!!! Then I might get a lot of people to come and hate at me.

If I put the "." in the title, I might get 20 replies... but if I use "~", I'm sure to get none.

If I put the words Sex Abortion, Government, Terry Shiavo, and Bush in the same Title, I could get quite a few liberals and republicans to duke it out on my article. Check out my latest "Bush has Sex with Terry Shiavo, while Government debates Abortion" article everyone!

If I talk about naughty things, I could get guys to visit and mabye respond! Check the Link

All in all... the title is a big deal when it comes to getting readers that aren't loyal to your blog to come and take a look.

Have fun with "Bush has Sex with Terry Shiavo, while Government debates Abortion"!

And All In All.... I'll get tons of referals!!!

(Feeble attempt at blogging humor putters out)

Peace,

Yep, the title of the article has a lot to do with the number of people who'll check it out. That's why they call them baits

Very true, Alex....I would try that title actually....you'd get so many referrals and get bitched at by a majority and yet cherished by others....blogging is a strange world indeed.

I mean honestly, I can put a ton of time and energy into a blog and get... 2 replies.

But If I talk about something like Sex, I'd get 20 comments.

*Sigh*

Beebles, you have really hit the nail on the "baits" head! In fact, I think you've earned the title Master Baits!!!

Hail the Master, Baits is the game!!!

Beebles,
About a year ago I wrote a similar blog " Firing for effect - Buzz word blogging "and yes, I am a recovering points whore.
Just yesterday a response article was posted reacting to an article I had written over a year ago - Wow ! It's true the writen word never fades - but part of the problem I inferred was that my article had a "Bait" title, 47 comments ( I think it even got feature status )and was mistakenly taken for a broadbrush treatment of anyone facing hard times.....
Guess that Bait title worked, dontcha think?

So it goes...........

If you would happen to put a title...oh lets say.....something to do with sexy females you'd be sure to get someone like Shaun to come. Or you'd get a lot of people to come and yell at you. That's another thing I don't understand. If they read the title and go to the article and start reading and it's not what they expected and they don't like what the blogger is writing then why do they continue to read about it and then leave a nasty comment saying that you shouldn't post stuff like that? I don't understand that. But I guess that's just the way people are. What can you do?

Insightful.

Oh and another thing. Remember how you told me that your youth director or whoever that was that wanted me to stop talking about you? Who is that on here? Sorry I'm just curious, and no offense to them, but if they don't like what I write then they don't have to read it.

They use an anonymous name. So no big deal here.
